Nostalgia!
I wish there was a time machine and I could time travel to revisit my past! Dont you all think so too sometimes?
I miss being a little kid with no stress, worries or care in the world. I would love to revisit my childhood. I wish I could go back in my life - not to change anything but just relive fews things twice.
I keep telling my kids - "you should go out and play more. Enjoy your childhood. Dont waste time infront of stupid screens. You have alot of energy, stamina, you have alot of enthusiam so just run, jump and play till you drop". Ricky Schrodder rightly said - 'I spent my whole childhood wishing I were older and now I'm spending my adulthood wishing I were younger'. Given a chance who wouldnt want to be young again?
Now that we are grown-ups, we have to have a certain way to carry ourselves. We need to behave when in public. We have 'n' number of restrictions as adults, which we never had and we never minded, as kids.
Wasnt it beautiful when you believed in everything?
When I see my kids getting ready for school, see them do their projects, activities, homework, see them interacting with their school friends - oh! how I miss my school days. No doubt the school my kids go to has A+ infrastructure, they have swimming pool, auditorium, canteen, turfs to play on, AC classrooms equipped with screens and CCTVs, compared to which my school doesnt stand a chance to be on the list. But still we schoolmates enjoyed that place and that phase too!
Similarly my college days were golden days of my life. We were an active group of friends. We participated in dance competitions, fashion shows, cultural events. We studied equally hard. We used to hang out all around my hometown. We all were so carefree and happy. No responsibilities, no anxiety of future, living life as it comes.
Now as a matured parent, we all have to face new challanges each day. All our energy is used up at work and home, kids and chores. Yes, I am enjoying this time of my life too. No matter the ups and downs, I am celebrating this 'Waxing Gibbous' phase of my life!
Sometimes though, you do feel to go back in time to change certain things you repent to have done. But then if you think of it, thats how it was supposed to be. So just put your guards down, dont overthink!
"Nostalgia is like grammar lesson - you find the present tense, but the past perfect!" Since you are not sure of the future, you seem to enjoy being nostalgic - trying to be engrossed in the past - its mist colours your memory.
All your firsts - your first day of school, your first ever friend, your first prize won, your first punishment, your first time riding a bike, your first love, your first dance, first song, first trip, your first time to drink, your first time to go clubbing, your first time you bunked a class....all these and much more will always hold a special place in your heart.
Everyone has this peculiar connection with nostalgia - and its not abstruse to not agree. So revisit, recall and then come back to senses to appreciate and enjoy the phase of life you are in!
