Mom's my home!

"Hey Bhagwan! Akshay what is this clutter beta? Past few days, whenever I return from the office the entire house is a mess. All your toys are lying here and there. Do you play with all of them at once? Why do you need so many toys at a time?", Nila uttered in a tone of dismay.

"Yes mom I need them all", Akshay said in a equally dejected voice.

"Kaamwali didi was telling me you don't go down to the play area too. What happened don't you like to play there, outside, with all other kids?", Nila asked while putting his toys one by one in the basket.

"No I don't like it here mom. Why did we shift the house? Why can't we stay with dad? Why are we here in this crappy home?", Akshay threw his toy car angrily in the basket.

"Akshay! What is this behaviour? How can you call our home crappy? It's our home beta. And I've already told you, henceforth, no more discussions about dad", Nila said in a stern voice.

Akshay was more triggered, "He is my dad and I miss him. I want to stay with both of you in one house".

Nila put the basket down and sat down on the floor besides Akshay. She caressed his head and kissed his forehead.

Akshay, still in an irritated mood pushed her hand away, "The kids here asked me where my dad was? When I told them he stays in a different house, they said I'm lying, and I don't have a dad. They don't take me to play. They ignore if I try to talk to them. Nobody wants to be my friend mom". Now Akshay had tears in his eyes and started sobbing.

Nila held her son close to her bosom. She couldn't console him, she was at loss of words. What would she tell him? Where is his dad? How can she make Akshay realise that his dad doesn't want them anymore. The person who used to love us once has fallen out of love. He wants to have no relation with us.

"How will this young kid understand infidelity? How could she convey that his dad disowned him. Only if his dad was dead, he could've come to terms of not having a father anymore. But right now, he knows the person is still there, but not available!", Nila thought.

"Akshay beta, don't cry. Some people are in our lives for a short time. Then their role in our life gets over so they disappear. Just like you've plays in your school. You play a part for certain period of time and when the annual function is over, you remove the makeup, change the costume and come back home...", before Nila could finish her sentence Akshay abruptly said, "So that means dad won't be coming back to us mom? Never ever? He doesn't like us mom? Is he with the other aunty who was at our place the other day?".

Nila cried profusely. She never knew that her son was already matured to understand her woes. "Don't cry mom. I will go to play in the play area from tomorrow. I will tell the kids that my mom loves me and is with me. I don't have a dad anymore", Akshay said trying to make his mom smile.

Nila hugged Akshay. They both cleaned the messed-up house and made it spick and span again.
