Never let you feel lonely!
"I can't stay away from you", he said, as he stretched out his left hand. Tightening his fist, with shaky hand, he injected the crack into the popped vein above the fold of his arm.
The syringe dropped from his hand and he lifted his head up. He dazzed into zilch, his eyes had no sparkle, they seemed emotionless. But he felt the trance, "It's just another day for you and me in paradise.....", he was totally out of tune but he was humming, his voice was breaking, yet he continued.
Tears rolled down his eyes, he started shivering. He curled up his limbs, close to his body and lay down on the floor.
There was a knock at the room's door. The light knock turned into a thud. "Open the door Akash, please open the door", his dad was knocking continuously.
Dad climbed through the balcony and entered his room, as the balcony door was ajar. He found Akash on the floor, next to the bed. "Akash get up my boy", dad patted his shoulder. But Akash wasn't in his senses, he just laid motionless on the floor.
"Son, What's wrong?...", dad stopped mid sentence as he found the syringe lying nearby. Dad rubbed his fingers rigorously over his forehead and made a phone call, "Akash is inebriated, once again. What do I do?", he asked.
It was his therapist on the other side.
"Did something happen today?", the therapist asked.
"Nothing really happened....but yes...it's his mom's death anniversary...so...I guess...", his dad couldn't finish his sentence and his eyes welled up. Dad rubbed his eyes.
"Yes, it must be the reason. But how did he get it this time? You said that you are keeping a watch", the therapist asked.
"I was busy with work past few days. It's my fault. I should've been more cautious. It's really difficult for me, after his mother, to take care of everything", dad said.
"Bring him for the therapy session tomorrow. Make sure he is sober and doesn't gets his hands on drugs again", therapist said.
Dad sat down besides Akash. He was continuously moving his hands over Akash's head. He glanced at the photograph of his wife on the side table. "Why did you leave me so early? How do I take care of him now? I cannot see him like this. He still misses you", dad cried profusely.
As the tears fell on Akash's face he slowly got up. "Where's mom? Were you talking to her? Where is she?", Akash looked around, his eyes felt hazy as yet.
"Akash, you know that mom loved you so much. Then how can you do this to her? You had promised that you won't do anything that would make her upset. Then why did you...?, dad couldn't speak further.
Akash held dad's hand and said. "Sorry dad. I miss mom. I need her. I feel lonely".
Dad hugged him and said, "You are not alone my son. I won't stay away from you. I can't...I had promised her, I will never let you feel lonely. But you need to complete your therapy, beta. If you want your mom to be happy".
"I will dad. I promise I won't make you cry again. I'm sorry", Akash said, as he threw away the syringe in the dustbin.
