Oops the tongs!

 "This Sunday?", I ask my hubby. "But I had told you I have a salon appointment....".


Before I could finish, hubby said, "Oh come on, the salon can wait. Waise bhi I like you the way you are".


Wait...I know exactly when this type of a sentence comes along, this type, 'Chaneke-jhaadpe-chadhane-wala' type. He wants me to believe in his theory, 'I like the way you are' and skip my salon appointment and make way for his commitment.


"But BBQ party? Haven't ordered any chicken, no sauces, no coal. The Garden isn't mowed, there are mosquitoes and yes, the BBQ set, my friend borrowed it last month remember?", I try to counter his enthusiasm and flush it down the drain.


"Don't worry honey. Everything's planned. I got back the BBQ set too. Just dress up and be present. Put on that goto face masks na...facial karlena baad mei", he suggests.




And I protest.

Why does he have the last word always?

But then I had to go with his plan as he had already sent the invites on his WhatsApp group.


The Sunday arises and I'm ready with my hurriedly done facial, those goto masks, yes, using them. My under-eyes are yet puffed and I'm huffed. Like a dinosaur that emits fire from his nose, there's smoke coming from my head which I want to exhibit but can't, why?  'Pollution free India'.


Jokes apart, we all gather in our garden for the BBQ party. There's music playing, Alexa bechari, shuffling the songs. See even here there's a woman who does all the work. Anyway, let's not talk about feminism today.


So tongs! What about those you ask?

Well, well, when there's BBQ and you need to turn the chicken upside down at intervals, you use the tongs, right?

But what happens when you use those to touch hubby's hand when you brush past him saying it was just a mistake?

Then you rush in and bring the burnol and apply it generously while giving the devilish smile...."You ruined my Sunday!" wala look.

She was sitting on the bench under the huge tree. Its extensive branches covered few more benches around. The park was a hangout place for teenagers. It was a playground for children and a perfect site for the exercise enthusiasts. People jogged, wearing headphones, determined to shed those extra kilos and be fitter, sticking to their new year resolutions, was a familiar sight here.  Yuga wasn't feeling the vibe today.  "You've to score good grades at school!" "You've to do your Olympiads!" "You need to have a co-curricular activity or some sports activity!" "You should be able to dance or sing or play a musical instrument!" Oh my my! So much pressure on these little one's learning to adapt and traverse the lanes and by lanes of this complicated world. "But its a rat race! He/she needs to figure it out sooner. Studies, career, universities, the stress builds up as they advance into their grades (classes), isn't it?" Yes, true. It's a tough task for the coming generations. Population is ever increasing. Even though the colleges and courses are increasing in numbers but we have no say on the quality of education they impart. Also the leading universities and colleges are always the first priority, obviously. So the newbies are looked down upon. Also the reservations hinder the paths of many.
