Woh bhooli dasataan....Part 1
"Let's not go there. It's a haunted house. Why do we need to do this?", Sham said, his voice was shaking.
"Hey! Now that you've challenged me, you want me to step down? What will that make of me?", Anjali said, her voice was stern.
"Raghav, yaar, stop her please. She won't listen to any of us, but you", Sham insisted.
"Koi nai yaar, let's see kya hota hai, chalo, keep walking", Raghav was keen too.
"Anjali, watch your step. There's no light in here", Shalini held Anjali's hand.
"What are we four? Some Fantastic Four or something? Are we superheroes?", Sham blurted his obtuse thoughts, while others shush'ed him.
"Keep your voice low. We are going in", Anjali was at the door of the secluded bungalow.
It had a huge courtyard but the grass was withered. The trees around had huge trunks, that meant they were rather old. The porch ceiling had cobwebs.
"It's like a purani haveli (old mansion) from a horror movie ", Raghav exclaimed.
"Quiet guys, I'm opening the door", Anjali said, while the door shrieked agape.
Raghav, Shalini followed Anjali inside closely, Sham hesitantly stepped in.
"I hope there's nobody living here", Sham mumbled, crossing his fingers.
"Our classmates said that they saw someone coming in and leaving the premises a few days ago. That's why this bet and hence we are here, come on", Raghav tapped Sham's head.
"Shalini flashlight chalu kar na", Anjali said.
In the beam of the light this fantastic four ambled.
"Wow look at the artifacts in this living room. Seems like a filthy rich owner", Anjali said in awe.
"Woah! This painting looks like a Picasso one. Look at the vibrant colours and the features that are highlighted. This man must've been some King", Shalini said pointing the flashlight to the painting.
As the beam of light shifted, Anjali's knee hit something, "Ouch!", she softly sighed.
"You okay?", Raghav patted her back.
Shalini once again pointed the beam ahead, there was an extensive staircase ahead.
They climbed the stairs, huffing and reached a room. It was a big bedroom. A colossal bed, a regal sit out, a throne like chair were placed inside in the spacious room.
"Certainly it's a King's Palace", Shalini repeated herself.
They heard a creaking sound and the phone fell down from Shalini's hand. It became pitch dark, murky. And from the balcony emerged some amorphous, unframed silhouette which was evident behind the curtains in the balcony.
Sham yelped and Raghav instantly rushed to cover his mouth. But they had already caught the attention of this amorphous thing, as it seemed approaching nearer.
