Bikes and adrenalines!
Vrooom Vrooooooommmmm! I know all that Dhoom effect and all....But when I was in college cars were more 'in' than bikes.
College students, specially boys, who had newly got issued their licences to drive would get their cars to colleges. Honking, raised volumes of the car tapes and their cars swaying at the beats, passing by a cafe, watching pretty girls. That was the scene then.
But when I got married, suddenly bikes were in form....and my Mr.Hubby is a bike lover. And not just ordinary bikes, but the superbikes. Yes, exactly! The Hayabusas, the Ninjas, the Ducatis. I never had heard such names but thanks to him got to ride a few.
Well, when we were newly married. Mr. Hubby bought his first superbike...A shining black Hayabusa. It was a raven black motorbike with Japanese letters printed. It was a huge machine, I could hardly hold it. So now he had got all the necessary armour required to be worn to ride a superbike, safely. His padded jacket, hooded helmet ( I got to know a new word then, Balaclava), shin guard, elbow guard...and so and so forth. As a kid, I used to love the then playing series, on doordarshan, Street Hawk....The Man, The machine, Street Hawk! But had never seen such a beast upclose.
And here, My Knight in his shinning armour, not riding a horse but on this shinny black machine, Oh! What a sight it was! I fell for him once again! But when he asked me to ride pillion with him, I was literally scared.
But as the engine roared....Vrroooommmm, the adrenaline rush went down the spine and we verbatim took off. My long tresses teetering as the wind gushed into them. I tightly held on to Mr.Hubby's waist.....Romantic isn't it? But no, just when it began to get exciting a dog ran across the road and hubby had to hit screeching brakes. Luckily the bike didn't skid.
A moment of silence. We both stood there, Hubby parked the bike on the road side. We thanked God, as no one got hurt, neither us nor the let loose dog.
I hugged Mr. Hubby and we kicked off for our return journey.
Mr. Hubby has bought 3 superbikes since then. He still loves riding superbikes, as they say A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.....but I never made an effort to ride pillion again!
