He gave up freedom - Tale 2.

He gave up his freedom for the family. Was his decision wrong?

Rudra bid goodbye to Mridul and returned to his room. He stared at the poster of his favourite singer 'Freddie Mercury'. He plugged in his air buds and reclining on his chair, closed his eyes.

I want to break free....from the lies,

You're so self-satisfied I don't need you.....

(Famous song by Freddie Mercury)

He opened his eyes. He paused the song. He was feeling uneasy. His friend had left her house. She was bold enough to break free. She chose freedom over her family.

Rudra opened his closet. Behind the shirts and leather jackets, was hidden a beautiful pink gown. It had georgette frills, diamonds around the yoke. Underneath was a lilac satin saari with embroidered borders. He took it out and smelled it. It was his favourite perfume 'Flower bomb', gifted by his....boyfriend.

Rudra sat with a thud on his bed. He viciously rushed his hands through his hair. He couldn't think straight.

"You know what, Riya is so beautiful, I really like her", when Mridul shared her feelings, Rudra wanted to voice his thoughts too, "You know what, Mayank is my crush. He is handsome, cute and well-built. I hope he accepts my love.....". But he could never share it. He was not as courageous as Mridul, after all.

When Rudra was flying kite on terrace, for the Uttarayan last year, he wanted to write Mayank's name on it. And wished that his kite would fly high up and keep floating in the sky. He wished he could scream from the top of the terrace that he loves Mayank.

When Mayank came to his place for group studies, Rudra wanted to introduce him as his boyfriend and not just a friend.

When Mridul had cut her hair short, Rudra had envied her. He yearned that some day he could have long tresses and flaunt them.

Rudra's father was a renowned businessman. He had brought a rishta of a beautiful girl from an equally prominent family. This marriage would've been an important alliance in terms of business too.

Rudra was assisting his father, at their company. He was well qualified for his job. He wanted to take his company to a higher position.

"Rudra, get married to this girl. We all will benefit from this alliance", his father was convincing him. His mother was happy as the girl was a suitable match to Rudra.

Rudra was in a fix. His family was an integral part of his life. He never had imagined going against their wish.

"I know, they will never understand. I don't want to end up like Mridul. I don't want to hurt my family. I am not brave enough to come out of the closet", he thought.

Rudra embraced the captivity, he decided to give up his freedom of choice. He agreed to marry the girl chosen by his parents.

He pulled out the gown, the saari and the perfume from his closet. He threw away everything which revealed his identity and locked the closet, along with his feelings.
