Just a journal - 1.
12th October 1995 -
8:00 A.M.-
Tina and me studied for three hours. She had come to my place as usual. The chirping birds in the balcony kept us company throughout, as if encouraging us. We scribbled flames, in between, when we got bored. All the names of boys were matched to all the names of girls. It was so much fun. Then, to relax for a while, we took a stroll in our garden. And while relaxing, adding to our Botany knowledge, we discussed the flowers and some insects for zoology sake. Our small talks keep us cheered and refresh us both, everyday.
12:00 P.M. -
Revised important Math formulae, solved the difficult sections from the past papers. I have decided that I will score excellent marks in the term exams, so that I don't have to slog more in the later half for boards. But when you study Math, don't you get hungry? It's like all the energy is sucked by the subject in one go. So it was lunch time now.
3:00 P.M. -
After lunch, took a quick nap, 'siesta' is a must. After studying the entire morning, the afternoons feel like bliss. The October heat is on, the breeze from the fans is enough, to keep me and my head cool, after those formulae attacks on it.
4.00 to 5.30 P.M.-
English time. Revised the due chapters for the day. Wren & Martin, comrades, to my rescue in Grammar. As always, Tina and me went to the temple to seek Ganapti Bappa's blessing. And chatting on the way back we finished discussing the movie 'Rangeela', it's songs, how Urmila looked, everything.
Well, after having my dinner, I am here at the table to jot down today's day. Yet another day well spent. I should find some interesting stickers for making the uninteresting parts of the day come alive!
**** End ****
I found my old 'diary' while doing the diwali cleaning yesterday. As I finished writing my 'journal' for the day, I read what I had written on the same day, years ago. And I was so happy that my teens were full of energy and aspirations and faith. I wished I could slip into a time machine and relive all that.
Viz-a-viz, my journal entry present day was -
12th October 2022 -
6.00 A.M.-
Finished preparations of breakfast and lunch. Today the half litre milk got spoilt, have to complain to the bhaiyya tomorrow.
Tiffins were packed but like any other day kids were still sleeping. Then he didn't find his tie, she couldn't find her textbook, the same old story, yelling, screaming, that's how my days start presently.
8:00 A.M. -
Kids left for school. And I exhale and with a thud drop on the couch chair. Then I realised that I haven't made the green tea for FIL yet. I quickly rushed to the kitchen and found him meddling with the tea pan. I asked him to read the newspaper and told him that I would bring his tea in the garden. As I took his tea outside, I heard birds chirping, were they chirping earlier too? I couldn't remember. Had no time for all this though! I rushed to get ready for office and also had to wake my hubby up.
9.30 A.M. -
We both left for the office. Received a call from hubby at 1.30, Sabji mei namak jyada ho gaya hai. These are the small talks we have these days. I hadn't yet had my lunch. My bad! When I had tasted it in the morning, it was okay to me. But yes, salt was excess. I finished the lunch somehow. And this salt thing kept poking in my head so I couldn't make the report properly. I had to hear a word or two from my immediate boss. And I knew I will have to hear more from my FIL once I return home.
6.30 P.M.-
I reached home and hubby reached in few minutes too. As I was prepared, I had to hear the salt complaint from FIL. I assured that this won't happen again. I made some kadak Chai for hubby and me, making sure sugar and tea proportions are perfect.
P.S. - AC needs urgent repair. The October is taking it's toll.
Well, that's how my day went. Nothing interesting happened, yes, salt story was only the hot topic for the day.
**** End****
I compared the two days from different years, in my life and was at loss of words. I couldn't call it my diary anymore. It was just a journal I scribbled in each day, as was my habit. There was nothing I wanted to enhance sticking stickers or glitters there. I wish I could bring in some change in my routine.

Lovely blog, Maitrin. Yes there is a vast difference between the days of yore and today. We need to find the magic of yesteryears and recreate some of the moments ourselves!
