Life : Cresive Motherhood.

"Congratulations! It's a boy", the nurse informed a gang of relatives waiting outside the labour room. The hallway was filled with celebrations.

The catchphrases of "Badhai ho, badhai ho" permeated through the hospital corridors. The weather outside was sunny and bright, as if welcoming the new life. The novel father, Pratap, was overwhelmed with all those wishes.

"Saare gaav mei baatne honge", Pratap joyously handed over a bundle of cash to Raghu and sent him to the market to buy kilos of pedha.

"Ladka hua hai, kuldeepak aya hai!", said Pratap's father, proudly looking at Pratap's mother. His mother had tears in her eyes. She wiped them with her pallu and again adjusted her pallu over her head. She asked the nurse if she could meet her daughter-in-law. The nurse suggested to wait for an hour, so that patient's stable in order to meet.

Later, Pratap and his mother went in, to see the baby boy. Pavitra was sleeping on the bed and the baby was kept in the cradle next to her. Pratap went towards the cradle and picked up the baby carefully. "He looks like me", he said with pride. His mother smiled and nodded.

She caressed Pavitra's head gently. "How are you feeling?", she inquired in a soft voice. Pavitra opened her eyes and a tear rolled down her eye onto her cheek and drenched the already wet pillow.

Mother-in-law(MIL) brushed her cheeks and held her hand tightly. Pavitra smiled at her and glanced at Pratap's happy face.

MIL took the baby in her arms and gently blew around his face, murmured something to keep away the evil. She gazed at the newborn and thanked God for blessing them all with this new life.

"Kaisi hai pooch usse", mother indicated Pratap. Pratap patted Pavitra's hand, "Abb hua pura parivar hamara", he said. Pavitra was elated to see the sparkle and glory in his eyes. "Khush ho na aap?", she questioned. "Bahot! Tumhari vajah se", he replied.

MIL handed over the baby to Pavitra, "Take care", she said and they both left the room.

Pavitra's eyes were brimmed with tears so much so, that the baby's face was blurr to her. She held him close to her bosom and kissed his forehead. "Thankyou for coming into my life, thankyou for honouring me with this motherhood. It took years for this to happen. All the pain was worthwhile, wasn't it?", she voiced her emotions in front of the new-sprung life. She was obliged by this crescive motherhood.

Pavitra kept him in his lap, held her ears as if saying sorry, looking up towards the sky.
