Wat-er disaster!

"Have finished with lunch and all the chores, time for a Siesta!", I thought to myself, as I took my phone and lay on my bed. I do that invariably. I arrange 2-3 pillows, to make that comfy, perfect angle for my head, so that I can surf through my phone, without hurting my neck (TMI right? But don't most of our blogs have TMI😜).

I caught on some missed stories and blogs by my wonderful friends on Momspresso. And with a smile, closed my eyes to enjoy that siesta!

I heard some giggles, slowly they turned into uproars. Could hear screams now! Wow! I can fall into a sound sleep even in the afternoons and I am dreaming too!...I must be dead tired, I thought (still in sleep).

Hey! It's not a dream, I opened my eyes. I could really hear my kids shouting....Mummaaaa...Mummaaa.... come downstairs quickly!

I snapped out of my so called siesta, for a second I thought Is it an earthquake happening? But the floor wasn't shaky at all.

I put my hand on my chest and said to my heart, It's okay! Whatever we see, we will face it together, All is well!

Whenever my kids scream in such a way, my fingers are crossed and I dare not predict what must've happened.

I ran downstairs, yes one hand on my chest and fingers on the other crossed. And as I stepped down the last stair of the case, my foot submerged in water. My furry pink chappals, all got drenched, looking like a cat who got rained on.

I left them there, floating in the water and rushed (.....Yah! Don't worry, I didn't slip).

On the way, I found my latest edition of Vogue floating, along with the Grihasobhika. The onion and potato stand was skewed and onions, potatoes were swimming around. The plastic tiffins that I had washed and laid on the floor on a cloth to dry, touched my feet, as if asking, to wash them again.

The next scene waiting for me was....my kids trying hard to stop the oozing water from the kitchen tap. Both of them were totally dowsed. The tap's knob was in my elder son's hand and with his other hand he was holding the mouth of the exposed tap. My younger son was screaming....Mummaaa..Mummaaa... (that's what he does, most of the times, when he can't do anything else).....Mummaaaaaa......

If my elder son had another hand, he would undoubtedly hold it over younger one's mouth.

The sink was flooded and the water like a waterfall (those smaller one's we see on the way to Lonavla in monsoon...yeah just like that) was flowing out on the floor.

I quickly bolted to get some towels. When my kids saw me, they had these mixed expressions, of relief at the same time guilt. I gestured them to step back. I tied the towel tightly to the oozing tap, called the plumber and asked my elder son to go and turn off the main water valve on the terrace.

The water stopped flowing. Now it was time to clear the water, that had created a pool inside my house.

Actually, it's not a big deal, when you stay in an area where there's water logging in every monsoon. So we all are habituated with this scenario, only difference was this water was super clean and not even smelly ( Well intended pun, in case Government officials are reading my blog!).

So, I've my weapons ready in the bathroom.....the wipers in all sizes, the squeezy mops, the spongy mops, the brushy mops, the swirly mops and last but not the least, a wet vacuum cleaner.

Just like there are fire fighters, we are self trained - water fighters!

So with the help of my kids, I finally cleaned the entire house. Spick and span....Yes! No doubt in these 3-4 years I've become highly professional with this water cleaning thing.

We changed into dry clothes, I made some hot chocolate for kids and steaming coffee for me. We relaxed on our couch and my phone buzzed. It was my friend saying, There's a heavy rain alert, please take care. I narrated the whole incident to her. She exclaimed, What a disaster!

And my reply.....Water logging wale shehron mei aise disasters toh hote rehte hai!.
