Where dreams dwelve -Part 2.
When I got married, I was accustomed to staying in an apartment. Everybody's doors were wide open the whole day and up into the late night. Neighbors barging in any time of the day was quite normal, to ask for help, to chit-chat, or just borrow something.
But here, in my Sasural, it's a bungalow that I did a Grihapravesh into. There's a beautiful garden with Bonsai and landscapes made by my MIL. She loved gardening and Bonsai. This big house that I shifted into was difficult to adjust to at first.
Neighbours barging in wasn't at all common and moreso, frequency of friends peeping in was lower too.But I always had the back of my MIL, so things were easy then.
But when my MIL expired, I suddenly became the head lady in the house, taking care of all tiny and significant things.
My husband, since the day he was born, has stayed in this house. He never had to shift houses like me. He has spent all his younger years right here. Every nook and corner of this house has memories for him to cherish.
Yes, the house has been renovated and refurbished many times since. At first it was my FIL that made the ammendments and later it's Mr. Hubby who's doing it.
I keep adding decorations and embellishments here and there. Bringing in bitsy elements to add some charm and elegance according to my taste. We all love decking up our houses, don't we?
The place where you eat, sleep, laugh, pray and live as a family, shouldn't it be sanctimonious to us?
Well but due to the increased reclamation and growth in residential density, we've been facing problem of heavy waterlogging since a few years now.
No doubt our house is a beautiful and positive place to dwell in. My FIL has built this dream house of his, from sheer hardwork, brick by brick.
But the fear of floods every monsoon is making it difficult to come to terms with serenity, these days.
Waking up to this (Picture- Outside my house this monsoon), is heart breaking, horrifying and alarming.
Do you just leave the house you had built on foundation of your aspirations? Or demolish the entire thing, see it collapse in front of your eyes? Just to build another superior one, high enough to spare the ruckus!
The neck of woods, your place of leisure, your corner of calm, leaving all this behind....Why? Because of reckless behaviour of humans!
A house is a home, when it shelters the body and comforts the soul! ~ Philip Moffitt.
And just when it is comforting you, can you quit your home?
