Sunday stories.
"Buy us Robux (currency in an online game - Roblox), mumma please, mumma please!", were the continuous chants of my sons. A teenager and a 9 year old, both of them love gaming. But the screen addiction makes me vexed. I am absolutely against playing online games and wasting childhood behind the monstrous screens.
I kept ignoring their pleads. We finished dinner. Boys went to sleep in their room. And it started raining cats and dogs. Mr. Husband and me got worried, as there's always a waterlogging problem in our area. We live close to the creek, that makes it worse.
Mr. Husband and me kept checking the water levels on the road, through our window. It was already 1A.M. The water levels kept rising. We shifted our important bags, some kitchen stuff and TV to our 1st floor. And eventually tired, went to sleep by 2.
"Hush! It's Sunday tomorrow (already it was yet), I can get up late", I thought and switched off the alarm. When I woke up, it was already 9 A.M. I went down to check the water, it had cleared off the roads and our courtyard, leaving the payvers drenched in muck. "Needs alot of cleaning", I murmured and took out the milk packets from the bag hanging outside my door.
Tea done for Mr.Husband, milk boiled, ambil ( made from Ragi flour) done. Mr.Husband desired to have a Swiggy breakfast today..." Order some Idlis, wada, uttapam today" he said. I was happy to hear this, as, everyday at my house, they have hot homemade breakfast, 7 days-7 different menus. I thought today is my day. I can relax, have my coffee, go through some blogs and write till my heart's filled. Sipping my black coffee, I unlocked my mobile....and got a Red alert! " I won't be coming today", my cook texted....." There you go Jui, make more plans of enjoying your Sunday?", my soliloquy.
I chugged the remaining coffee and went to the kitchen. I turned on Ramraksha, as my regular habit is, started with lunch preparations. " Manojavam, Marut-tulya vegam...." and the Ramraksha was interrupted by a phone call. " Madam, mei aaj anewali nai", said my other bai. " Have they both planned this together? ,why is the universe plotting against me today?", I blurted, irritated.
" Ok! Let's finish with the lunch prep and then will do the mopping, cleaning etc....", my mind was planning it out.
The Swiggy parcel reached in time. And my kids came down. " Good morning mumma!", they hugged me. " Why are you sweating so much?", the younger one asked. " The Bai's are not coming today, so mom's busy busy!", I said. And You know what? My angels offered to help. The elder one switched on the washing machine, put the clothes to wash. Younger one helped me with arranging table, for breakfast.
We finished our breakfast and they helped me clean the table too! After my utensils were cleaned, they helped me dry them and arrange in their proper places. Both of them helped with hanging the washed clothes. Because of my little helpers, my work wrapped up in few hours.
After having our lunch and settling things in kitchen, I came upstairs. My angels were waiting for me with cutest smiles on their faces. " Buy us Robux mumma!", they said in unison. Ah! I got to know the reason behind all the help, now.
To buy or not? was a question yesterday for me....but today I couldn't resist those adorable looks... " Ok! But minimise the screen time...it's a deal then", I said.
