This thing called love!
"How can you love two people at the same time?", Sakhi exclaimed.
"Why not? Don't we hear stories of Kings having many wives?", Maya argued.
Sakhi tried to put her point across, "But that was a different era. And poor Kings!....What? Don't look at me like that. I know it's a paradox. But most of the Kings I suppose didn't marry out of love. They had to strike the deal for expansion of their kingdom or married the princess after defeating her kingdom. They were forced to do so...."
"You are justifying the royals that don't exist anymore and ignoring the feelings of your own best friend?" Maya sighed.
"I'm sorry Maya. But I can't support your decision. I mean I would prefer if you decided on one", Sakhi was loud and clear.
"What do you mean decide on one? Is it a commodity? Well, I like one of them for his brains and the other for his looks. So what's wrong in that? I don't want to let go of the intellectual for he isn't as good looking nor want to ditch the handsome for he sometimes seems dunce. But I love them both equally", Maya blushed.
"No my friend, this isn't right. I don't know if you can't, but definitely you shouldn't", Sakhi insisted.
"I cherish his company when he talks about the wisdom in imperfection and discusses how Nobuo Suzuki has illustrated it in 'Wabi Sabi'. That twinkle in his eyes and the honesty with which he talks, blows my mind. He plays with my thoughts when he speaks about the psychology of money, providing insights. I love how he makes me feel special when he recites...
'Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Though art more lovely and more temperate!'
And when I'm with the other, I feel I'm a vagabond. Riding pillion with him on his bike, wind in my hair, I can't feel more carefree. When he says I'm beautiful, his smiling face, crisp jawline, ruffled hair attract me even more.
How do I decide on one, Sakhi?" Maya asked.
Sakhi looked perplexed, but Maya appeared confident.
"Do they know too?", Sakhi asked.
"I will lose one if they do", Maya replied.
