Rowing to my destination.

I am eager to reach the other side of the river. I cannot swim. I decide to row a boat. Yes, the boat is there at the shore, afloat, waiting for me. I land a gaze at the oars. Oars are in good condition, not worn out, blades are flat enough, for me to row. Now the question is "Have I rowed a boat before?". And wait, the question doesn't end here. "Do I have the strength to row a boat across the river?", "Can I overcome the currents that will obstruct my course?", "Can I row against the flow in case I need to?"....the questions keep popping and I stare at my hands, palms, arms, fingers.....And my brain goes, "Are you so fragile that you've given up even before getting on the boat? Even before taking the oars in your hands? Even before getting to know the river? You've a boat, you've hands and you've the courage, let's get started".

Well, life is always like this, isn't it? It throws us in deep waters even before we learn to swim. But I was glad that atleast, I had a boat waiting for me. Shouldn't I feel blessed to have something on my side?

It merely signifies that if we have some means to get across we should hold on to it. What if we have never rowed? There's always a first time for everything. What matters is the urge to get through and reach our destination. On the way I am going to face influx of water making it harder to row, there's going to be thick fog blurring my vision at some point. Nevertheless, I know that I should keep rowing, keeping my spirits high, for I wish to cross the river and not get drowned without trying.

"Try try but don't cry", we have been taught this since our kindergarten. The moral story of King George and the spider, we all know it well. So something that's been imbedded in our minds as tiny tots, how do we forget as we grow old?

I came across these lines somewhere....

"Our life is a book, some people have success at the first page, some at last and others have it in the middle. Our book doesn't complete if we get success, it completes when we are actually done" - Adarsh Pandey.

Don't you agree with this? If you never try you'll never know right? So let's complete our own books with colours of our tryst and glory. Let's cross the river and never give up!
