Moira : Bound to happen! Chapter 4.

The phone's loud ring over the Bluetooth connection abruptly cut the song that was playing and also broke Yuga's trance. She lifted her head up. Her tears had blurred her vision. She wiped her tears. And blinked rapidly to astute her vision and see who was calling. 

"Sameer! Mom I had told you not to call Sameer", Yuga blabbered to herself.

Yuga thought of disconnecting the call but on second thought she picked it up.

"Good morning *Yoda!", a bright and cheerful voice popped out. 

"You alright Yoda? Aunty said you tripped while running. What's up with you? Friday hangover kya?", Sameer chuckled on his own joke.

"Sameer you know I haven't had a sip more than three years now. And when will you stop calling me Yoda? We are not kids anymore. I know my ears are weird but do you have to remind me every time? I am alright. I am driving back home. So tell your tattletale not to worry if she calls again", Yuga said in a gruff tone. And she was about to hang up.

"Hey, hey Yoda, sorry Yuga, don't hang up. Drop your gruff tone for once. Hope you are not over bruised. You can drive right?", Sameer sounded concerned.


"Yes, I can drive not over bruised", Yuga sounded nonchalant as always.


  "Let's meet for breakfast then. Aunty, tum aur mei. As Uncle is not in town and he has asked me to look after his favourite ladies. So what say?", Sameer said.


"Why is Sameer always so excited about everything? Should I tell him about Nirav? No! Mom and Sameer are close aides, he will surely spill the beans", Yuga's soliloquy.

"Okay fine Sameer. Lets meet", Yuga conceded defeat as she knew she could never win against his wilful behaviour.


"Our usual place then. Over and out", Sameer hung up.


Yuga looked at the time display of her car. It was already 10.30 a.m. She tried to push on the accelerator but there was a clear arrière-pensée in her thoughts. She couldn't do it.

Driving at a steady speed, she reached home. Yuga glanced in the side mirror after parking the car. She tucked away the loose strands of hair behind her ears. She brushed her hand over her face and put up a 10:10 smile. 


Yuga opened the door with her keys and found her mom was waiting impatiently in the living room.

Mom hugged Yuga. She checked her from top to bottom. Yuga yelped when mom touched her knees. 

"You hurt your knees? Where else let me check", Mom apprehensively scanned.

"Mom just the knees. I am fine", Yuga hugged her mom back, kissed her forehead.

"I will take a shower and you too get ready. We are having breakfast with your white-headed Sameer at 'Brewed Awakening'", Yuga uttered as she latched the door of her room.


*NOTE : Yoda is a character in Star Wars series, which has weird ears.

  And 2024 ends..... What a roller coaster ride!  Every year passes by and the new year comes afore, leaving you with something and making you leave something.  It would be quite odd if time doesn't indoctrinate our minds. Moira : Bound to happen! Chapter - 1.

She was sitting on the bench under the huge tree. Its extensive branches covered few more benches around. The park was a hangout place for teenagers. It was a playground for children and a perfect site for the exercise enthusiasts. People jogged, wearing headphones, determined to shed those extra kilos and be fitter, sticking to their new year resolutions, was a familiar sight here.  Yuga wasn't feeling the vibe today. She had left home as usual, early in the morning, in her tracks and tee to run a few miles, but after three rounds she just sat down on the bench. She saw an old lady taking rounds, walking slowly, but with vigour. The tree was shedding it's aged golden leaves. One such tanned foliole fell beside Yuga on the bench. She picked it up and let it descend on the ground. She switched off the songs playing on her phone. With air pods in her ears, she sat inert on the bench.  "You've to score good grades at school!" "You've to do your Olympiads!" "You need to have a co-curricular activity or some sports activity!" "You should be able to dance or sing or play a musical instrument!" Oh my my! So much pressure on these little one's learning to adapt and traverse the lanes and by lanes of this complicated world. "But its a rat race! He/she needs to figure it out sooner. Studies, career, universities, the stress builds up as they advance into their grades (classes), isn't it?" Yes, true. It's a tough task for the coming generations. Population is ever increasing. Even though the colleges and courses are increasing in numbers but we have no say on the quality of education they impart. Also the leading universities and colleges are always the first priority, obviously. So the newbies are looked down upon. Also the reservations hinder the paths of many. Well, so what score is a good enough score...
