Once upon a heartbeat! - (1)
Intro :
The light rasping of coarse coffee beans grated in the grinder, filled in the quiet ambience. Water was poured into the container of the coffee maker and the ground coffee in the funnel. He brewed some fresh coffee and it's fragrance lingered through out the room. The kitchen was spick and span. All the utensils properly put in place. The sink was shining as if never used. Gas stove top, made of glass, looked like a mirror, reflecting his tidy image.
She was still in her bed, lazying around. From beneath the quilt she peeked out, to find sun's rays trying to enter through the gaps between the curtains on her windows. Snoozing the alarm atleast 3 times, she, reluctantly woke up. She sat there for another couple of minutes, attempting to open her eyes completely. She rubbed her eyes gently to wipe off the haze. She glanced upon the entire bedroom. Her cupboard door was ajar. Some clothes were having the 'Eureka' moment, falling off from the shelves. Study table was covered with books, with and without bookmarks, haphazardly spread. Some solved question papers were crammed under the heavy books, as if screaming to be set free.
He pulled a chair. With his coffee and hot omelette toast, he sat down to have his breakfast. He wiped clean even a minute crumb of toast that could've been dropped, mistakenly, by him on the table. The coffee mug, plates and spoons, were cleaned and returned back to where they belonged. He slung his shoulder bag, a tan leather one, beaming like polished leather boots. He looked into the mirror, his hair was styled neatly, crisp white shirt on his robust torso, jet black trousers with proper creases and spotless glinting shoes, completed the formal look. He took the car keys and left.
She, finally, reached the basin. She looked into the mirror, her hair was messed up, eyes looked still sleepy. She splashed some water on her face that made her wide awake. She went to cupboard and opened the ajar door dramatically. The 'Eureka' clothes caved in, onto her. She pulled out a skirt from the heap and plucked a decent looking white shirt from the hangers. She looked for the tie and finally found it lying on the chair. She dressed up and looked into the mirror. She sprayed a refreshing mist over her face. Applying a neutral coloured lipbalm, she tied her hair into a neat pony tail. She threw a flying kiss to her reflection and winked. She ate the breakfast that was kept ready on the dining table. She flung the bag on her shoulder and hastily putting her feet in the shoes, she took the bus money kept in the bowl next to the fish tank. Waving a goodbye to herself in the reflection of the glass, she left.
