Once upon a heartbeat! - (3)






2025 :


 Alora looked to her left and then to her right, and decided to keep walking on the footpath. Petals of the Gulmohor, Bahawa, were falling to the ground as she walked along. The path looked beautiful but people around weren't even bothered to pause and gaze. 

She crossed an elite commercial complex and was about to glance properly, when someone called her name. "Alora, where are you going?". 

Alora turned to see and was stunned to see Jia. Jia was dressed in a salwar-kameez. Her hair was styled with bangs, highlights of bronze, she looked amazing.

 "Wow! What are you doing here Jia? And these highlights...are they allowed?", Alora looked at her puzzled. 

"Don't they look amazing? What allowed? Are we in high school now? We can do whatever we want. We are adults, officially, for past four years now", Jia said raising her eyebrows. 

"Adults?", Alora exclaimed. She saw herself in the reflection, of a glass facade, on the building. She was dressed in a salwar-kameez too. She was wearing some lipstick, kohl and her hair let loose, were gently flying with the breeze. She was holding a file in her hand. She flicked her hair and turned the face, slightly, to her right side.

And at the same time, he turned behind to look. He glanced at Alora's profile. Jia patted Alora and she turned back towards Jia. And so he turned his head too and walked away. He entered the commercial complex. 

"What are we doing here Jia?", Alora was confused. The wormhole, the street, Jia 2.0, the file? Alora couldn't fathom the situation. 

"Are you not feeling well Alora? Ain't you prepared for the interview? You won the best student award and yet, you are skeptical? Are you pulling my leg? I'm here to boost you up. Don't worry, you got this and I've got your back!", Jia said, giving her a thumbs-up. 

"Have I time-travelled?", Alora's soliloquy. She was puzzled and her expressions puzzled Jia. "Hey, hey, brush off that bewildered expression and march ahead soldier", Jia made fists of both her palms and buoyed her up. 

"Interview, adults, best student", Alora was thinking and hurriedly, she checked her mobile. It was year 2025. "I've certainly time-travelled ", she sighed.

Moira : Bound to happen! Chapter - 1.

She was sitting on the bench under the huge tree. Its extensive branches covered few more benches around. The park was a hangout place for teenagers. It was a playground for children and a perfect site for the exercise enthusiasts. People jogged, wearing headphones, determined to shed those extra kilos and be fitter, sticking to their new year resolutions, was a familiar sight here.  Yuga wasn't feeling the vibe today. She had left home as usual, early in the morning, in her tracks and tee to run a few miles, but after three rounds she just sat down on the bench. She saw an old lady taking rounds, walking slowly, but with vigour. The tree was shedding it's aged golden leaves. One such tanned foliole fell beside Yuga on the bench.  "You've to score good grades at school!" "You've to do your Olympiads!" "You need to have a co-curricular activity or some sports activity!" "You should be able to dance or sing or play a musical instrument!" Oh my my! So much pressure on these little one's learning to adapt and traverse the lanes and by lanes of this complicated world. "But its a rat race! He/she needs to figure it out sooner. Studies, career, universities, the stress builds up as they advance into their grades (classes), isn't it?" Yes, true. It's a tough task for the coming generations. Population is ever increasing. Even though the colleges and courses are increasing in numbers but we have no say on the quality of education they impart. Also the leading universities and colleges are always the first priority, obviously. So the newbies are looked down upon. Also the reservations hinder the paths of many. Well, so what score is a good enough score...
