When the stars align! (1)





 He glanced at his watch, "Geez! I need to rush", he uttered. He pulled the handle of trolley bag and slung the bagpack on his shoulder. The dragging of the trolley made a harsh sound of the wheels. He looked at the trolley but decided to rush as he was getting late.

He checked his mobile. He kept refreshing the app, "Your ride will be here in 3 minutes", read the text. "3 minutes more? What's wrong with these guys? Earlier it showed ride is arriving.... Gosh man! I'm going to miss my flight", he kept murmuring as he came out of the elevator. 

The cab was waiting at the gate of his building, gladly, before he reached there. He loaded the luggage.  He got seated in the back seat and shared the OTP with the driver. "7988, can you make it faster? I'm getting late, else I'll miss the flight", he said to the driver. 

"Sir there are speed cameras everywhere these days. I'll try my best to drop you in time", the driver said looking into rear mirror.  

"Yes, I know, but boss, it's an important day for me", he said giving a thumbs-up, looking back in the same mirror. 

He took out his laptop from the bagpack and checked the presentation a final time, "Great work Akash! You are too good", he said feeling proud of himself. He typed something hastily then deleted it and typed again.

Akash received a call from his business partner, "Did you reach the airport?"

"I'm on my way, don't worry, will reach in time. You guys stick to your schedule. I will handle the rest", Akash sounded confident. 

"Sir, startup wale hai aap?", the driver inquired, again looking into the rear mirror. 

Akash smiled, "Haan. How did you guess?".

"Sir, everyday I take on so many rides. I hear stories from people. I may be in my 30's but these everyday encountes have taught me so much. I can guess the profession of anyone sitting in my cab", the driver said proudly. 

"You're a genius", Akash was impressed. 

The conviction with which the cab driver spoke, gave him a boost. "I'm good at my work too. I'm sure I will crack this deal. Better things are waiting to happen, dead sure", Akash thought. 

They reached the airport. The cab driver took out the luggage from the boot and handed over to Akash. "We reached in time Sir. All the best and don't forget to give me a 5 star rating!", the driver politely said.

"Oh yes! Thankyou!", Akash said.

He held the trolley bag. "Everyone needs the recognition, acknowledgement of some sort", he thought as he kept the laptop in the bagpack, hoping to get his due credit today.

Akash dragged the trolley to the entry gate. He stood in the queue and kept his e-ticket and identity card ready.

Moira : Bound to happen! Chapter - 1.

She was sitting on the bench under the huge tree. Its extensive branches covered few more benches around. The park was a hangout place for teenagers. It was a playground for children and a perfect site for the exercise enthusiasts. People jogged, wearing headphones, determined to shed those extra kilos and be fitter, sticking to their new year resolutions, was a familiar sight here.  Yuga wasn't feeling the vibe today. She had left home as usual, early in the morning, in her tracks and tee to run a few miles, but after three rounds she just sat down on the bench. She saw an old lady taking rounds, walking slowly, but with vigour. The tree was shedding it's aged golden leaves. One such tanned foliole fell beside Yuga on the bench.  "You've to score good grades at school!" "You've to do your Olympiads!" "You need to have a co-curricular activity or some sports activity!" "You should be able to dance or sing or play a musical instrument!" Oh my my! So much pressure on these little one's learning to adapt and traverse the lanes and by lanes of this complicated world. "But its a rat race! He/she needs to figure it out sooner. Studies, career, universities, the stress builds up as they advance into their grades (classes), isn't it?" Yes, true. It's a tough task for the coming generations. Population is ever increasing. Even though the colleges and courses are increasing in numbers but we have no say on the quality of education they impart. Also the leading universities and colleges are always the first priority, obviously. So the newbies are looked down upon. Also the reservations hinder the paths of many. Well, so what score is a good enough score...
