 Adjusting to new spaces and situations had, as though, become her routine. But nani's words had brought back Tara's mind at peace. Finally, she had someone in her life who was willing to ease her apprehension. The warm hug from her nani was the biggest gift in this difficult phase of her life. 

Tara dressed up in an elegant salwar-kameez that her nani had bought. This new day ushered a fresh hope for her. She was happy to see her bright reflection in the mirror after months. 

"Nani wish me luck for my first day of this new college", Tara said as she touched Nani's feet. 

Nani blessed her and said, "You look beautiful beta. And I assume, you will return late after the college".

"Why nani? My lectures get over by 4 so I will be back by 5", Tara said.

"And what about the date? You are meeting Akash right? Ummm if you don't want to go, it will be my pleasure to go instead. Akash is a dashing and handsome young man", nani laughed as she looked at Tara.

"Nani!", Tara blushed. 

"Beta you've my permission and blessings too", nani smiled.

Tara left for the college. She was elated in this new atmosphere. Everything looked jovial and blissful today. 

Tara wrapped up her lectures and stepped out towards the garden. She sat down on the same bench where she had chatted with Akash. The white petals from trees descended upon her as a cool breeze stroked her hair. And suddenly a rose, out of nowhere, was seen beside her on the bench. Tara looked around and found Akash standing behind. "A flower for a beautiful flower", he said.

Tara picked up the rose and her cheeks got tinted in its colour. 

"Now that you've picked up the rose does it mean you agree to be my girlfriend  Tara? I've got a good news in the morning that our company has got the deal. And if you say yes it would be a double joy for me", Akash said as he sat down on the bench.

Tara's face slumped a bit.

"Hey Tara! Did your nani not allow you to join us today? Please don't worry if it's about nani, I will handle it", Akash's face seemed worried. 

"Congratulations Akash, I was sure, you would grab the deal. But.....", Tara paused.

"But...what Tara? Naanu ninnanu preetisutteyne (I love you). I've never felt like this for any girl before. I was so absorbed in my work that I rarely had time to splurge or party. I wanted my Amma to not feel lacking about anything in her life, after my dad passed away. I've reached a position now where I can keep Amma and also you, happy. I can afford everything. So Tara....", Akash sounded honest.

"Naanu ninnanu preetisutteyne Akash!", Tara smiled, offering the same rose back to him.

Akash stood up. He realised that Tara was previously pulling his leg with slumped expressions. Akash jumped in exhilaration. He took the rose from Tara and kissed her hand. Tara blushed. 

"Thankyou Tara! This is my luckiest day", Akash shouted in excitement. 

Tara tried to hush him but his elation knew no bounds. Tara covered her mouth with her palm and was trying to control her laughter. 

"Did you see chikkamma? Look at her carefully she's the one, your future daughter-in-law", Smitha said pointing her phone towards Tara. 

Tara shied away from the camera. Akash and Tara received the blessings of Amma over the phone.

And suddenly Tara's life was full of loving people who were soon to become her family.

She was sitting on the bench under the huge tree. Its extensive branches covered few more benches around. The park was a hangout place for teenagers. It was a playground for children and a perfect site for the exercise enthusiasts. People jogged, wearing headphones, determined to shed those extra kilos and be fitter, sticking to their new year resolutions, was a familiar sight here.  Yuga wasn't feeling the vibe today. She had left home as usual, early in the morning, in her tracks and tee to run a few miles, but after three rounds she just sat down on the bench.  "You've to score good grades at school!" "You've to do your Olympiads!" "You need to have a co-curricular activity or some sports activity!" "You should be able to dance or sing or play a musical instrument!" Oh my my! So much pressure on these little one's learning to adapt and traverse the lanes and by lanes of this complicated world. "But its a rat race! He/she needs to figure it out sooner. Studies, career, universities, the stress builds up as they advance into their grades (classes), isn't it?" Yes, true. It's a tough task for the coming generations. Population is ever increasing. Even though the colleges and courses are increasing in numbers but we have no say on the quality of education they impart. Also the leading universities and colleges are always the first priority, obviously. So the newbies are looked down upon. Also the reservations hinder the paths of many. Well, so what score is a good enough score...
