Gurus of my Life!

Image
Academician, confucius, teacher, instructor, mentor, trainer, tutor, philosopher, guide, moralist, preceptor. A Guru is all of these! The First Guru of my life is my Mother. She taught me to express, speak, walk, eat, play, study, think and most importantly to "be Me".Thankyou Aai for your interminable efforts you put in me. Along with her my Father, my two Grandfathers ( Paternal-maternal), my two Grandmothers, who guided me all along. They taught me the difference between right and wrong, good and bad. My Father who has a command in Economics, was my Guru who taught me economics lessons, without him I would have flunked the subject. Thankyou Baba for- giving me wings to fly, to choose what I wanted to and to always encourage me! My younger sister, taught me alot, like, being sincere. I cant forget the Biology lessons that she gave me ( I was really bad at Bio in school!). All the other elders of my family too have been my Gurus in one way or the other. My teahers at my...

FOMOs and JOMOs of Social Media!

FOMO, Fear Of Missing Out - The Urban Dictionary describes it as "State of mental or emotional strain caused by the fear of missing out, a compulsive concern that one might miss an opportunity or satisfying event". Comparison- You have a Whtsapp account, Facebook account, Twitter, Instagram etc..etc.. Each morning you get up and the first thing you do religiously is, see what your social media friends have to say, display, share....If its Whtsapp, you check out the DPs of friends and you think ' wow! they look super hot, they are happy, they are enjoying'. Facebook wall throws at you some lovely pictures and descriptions of your friends enjoying some party, vacations. Insta shares stories about how cool other people are and how cheerful and contented their life is! Twitter handles all the aggression of people and you feel how do these people know everything thats happening in an around your country, state, city.....Now your day has already started with comparison. ...

Marriage, the union of two souls!

I just attended a wedding ceremony. The groom and bride all decked up. The 'baratis' dancing. The groom riding the horse, the bride in her doli. Everything was colourful, fun and bright.  On the way back there was alot going on in my mind. I was thinking about this whole affair - Marriage. Is it all about two perfect individuals coming together, tying the nuptial knot, to become a perfect couple? ..........Actually, No!...... Marriage is all about imperfect couple learning to enjoy each others differences. On THE DAY we are all happy, excited and its all goody goody feeling.......but the real meaning of coming together, staying together is realised later. You have to adjust with your spouse, his/her habits, mood swings, likes-dislikes, behaviour and the list is exhaustive! The roots of marriage are deep, the covenant has to be solid, love in abundance, life- with its ups and downs. The partners must learn to love, believe in each other even on those days when they str...

Domesticated me?

No one notices when you do it, but everyone notices when you dont....Yeah! Its the everyday household chores! The homemaker does it day in and day out even if shes sick and tired of the mundane job. A man's day 'Off' is actually a day 'Off'....but a woman's day off is, her catching up time, to do these unfinished chores. The overflowing laundry basket, the toys saying 'Eureka' as they fall off the toy-box, the mugs, cups, dishes, spoons, waiting, drenched in liquid soap, to be cleaned. The books scattered on the shelf, the layers of dust, very very adamant on settling down, and not willing to go. A working woman on the other hand, has some 'me' time, atleast in her office, where she can sip a cup of coffee during her break. She can overlook the mess thats there, away, at her home. No doubt she has to finish her office work and go back to it. Clear her backlog, piled up work, once shes back home. Sometimes I just feel like keeping things as ...

Shopping and me!

Today my friend Anuya introduced me to this new word - 'Oniochalasia' - meaning - shopping as a mechanism to relieve stress or achieve relaxation - And the result is this post! Who doesnt love shopping, and especially if you are a woman! Women prefer shopping cause its cheaper than a therapy  😜😜😜😜 - Thats an excuse! We love to shop anywhere, anytime. If we are depressed, the more the urge to shop. I guess instead of eating in depression, its better to shop. Shopping definitely boasts our feel-good hormones. Serotonin levels rise up once we hit the shopping mall! Eating would make us gain weight but shopping - you walk, you stand for hours, you forget that you are hungry. Ah! now thats a 2-in-1 solution - antidepressant and weight loss regime. We dont always shop only when depressed. We also shop if we are happy - when its an ADD TO CART kinda day! If you want to know a Woman - the easiest way would be to go shopping with her. right? I came across this quote the oth...

Lights - Camera -Action!

Image
Acting is a skill. Actors come and go, the best ones stay in the race. Wearing makeup day in and day out on your face, rehearsing your lines, getting connected with your role. Ah! that isnt as easy as it sounds. Lifes a stage, so that makes us all 'Actors' too! We also have to wear make up sometimes - of happiness, smile, cheer, surprise....even if we are broken from inside. We have to rehearse for perfection, to minimise mistakes, to achieve success. We have to get connected totally with our roles - of being - mother, father, brother, sister etc.... Ah! now that isnt as easy as it sounds, either! I think we take birth on this planet and God just says - Lights -Camera -Action. The rest is left to us. There is rough guideline provided by the society to each one of us about our role. We need to carve, show fine skills and make a sculpture out of it. The Best sculpture makes history. But the ordinary ones, what about them? Being ordinary is no crime. There are ordinary ...

The Sun!

Image
The Sun is the source of energy for us. It starts our day and continues to light it up, through the night, via Moon. The symbol of sacrifice, it is, burns each day just to create a bright environment for us! Its rays spread all over, dont differentiate between rich and poor, fair and dark, or anything else...... Just makes sure all of us shine and get energised. The Sun always directs our gaze away from itself. It makes us see the life illuminated by it. Sunshine is the best medicine! We should take inspiration from this Morning star. We can be the sunshine to someone, others. To light up the environment we also need to burn, not literally though!...... We need to pave our way through... we need to struggle to reach the skies...we need to rise above the difficulties to come out shining! They say 'keep your face to the Sun and you cant see a shadow'..... Yeah! Always see the bright side... be optimistic! When we see the Sun coming out of the dark clouds, we belie...
