Pragati - Verse 3.

 Pragati! Progress, it's me,

Please come in and have some tea,

The lush green plants in my garden you ask?

I water them daily, in sun let them bask!

I love taking care of my garden,

The relaxing chair, amidst beautiful flowers, like an arden,

I decorate every knook and corner of my home,

I love shapes, the squares, circles and the dome.

I know my name suggests progress,

I know, I sound more homely than the rest,

But this is my way of being happy,

I want freedom from all the unsaid notions, crappy.

I like to cook a variety of food,

Experimenting and learning until I am too good!

I like to bake, serve and clean,

What? Am I a maid?....What do you mean?

Appetising my family's hunger,

What's wrong in this I wonder?

I love doing the household chores,

Visiting vegetable markets and grocery stores.

Don't judge me for who I am,

Yes, I am a graduate, yet a housewife, ma'am,

Housewives are working ladies too,

There's no work at home, says who?

Well, I don't get paid like most of my counterparts,

But maintaining a spick and span home, is an art,

My take away is the love I receive,

That's what matters, is what I perceive.

When people appreciate my abode,

I feel delighted, with kind words bestowed,

This is like an incentive to me,

Fills my life with contentment and glee.

I don't want to fit in a box,

I am modern, don't call me orthodox,

I love traditions and rituals attached to it,

I enjoy the preparations, organising functions, to every bit.

I may lack social skills of being out going,

But my skills of finishing errands are mind blowing,

I may not drink and party every weekend,

But culinary art, making mocktails, all that I easily comprehend.

Pragati(progress), isn't just at your job in the office,

Gaining success in whatever you do, what's suffice,

Freedom from conservative attitude,

Will make me glad and full of gratitude!

This is the last verse in the series Freedom From....

Women need freedom from judgemental eyes, predetermined notions and ignorant behaviour of society.

My little effort to highlight few of such issues...hope you like it!
