Moira : Bound to happen! Chapter 14.

"Navya chalo, let's finish this bite", Nirav said as he fed Navya her breakfast. "Okay then, Dadda is eating Navya's favourite cookie....who will Navya give her favourite cookie to?" Nirav was being playful with Navya.

"To pretty aunty...Yu..Yuga aunty!", Navya happily exclaimed, out of the blue.


"Yuga!", Nirav repeated. "Do you like Yuga aunty, Navya?", Nirav asked, watching Navya's happy face.

"Yes! I will give her my favourite cookie", Navya repeated. 

Nirav picked his mobile phone and scrolled for Yuga's number. He kept staring at her saved name. 

He remembered her face the first time they met. "As she removed her palms off her face, her cheeks, red from crying, looked like apples" Nirav recollected and smiled.

"Why are you smiling Dadda?", Navya asked.

Nirav gave a broader smile to Navya. 

"Only if the nanny hadn't called that day,  would've the day in the park, ended differently?", Nirav pondered.

"Dadda", Navya called.

"Did you finish your breakfast", he said, shifting his gaze to Navya.

"Yes Dadda, lets go to school", Navya got down from the chair, slung her bag over her shoulder and went on to hold Nirav's hand.

Nirav and Navya drove off to school. Nirav was bidding goodbye to her but saw that she was staring at her friend. Friend's mom and dad were giving a peck on her cheeks to bid their goodbyes. Navya turned back and blew a flying kiss to Nirav. Nirav mimicked of catching it and putting it in his left pocket. Navya smiled and went inside. 

"I know Navya misses her mom", Nirav thought. His phone beeped and interrupted his thoughts. He checked the message. After replying, he again opened Yuga's name card on the phone. 


"She looked gorgeous in that blue dress", he recalled. "And when she was talking to Navya, in that white salwar-kameez, sunrays made her dazzle. How comfortable Navya was with her! Navya won't share her favourite cookie with anyone. But she's willing to share it with Yuga. Should I ask Yuga.... No! What am I thinking? I have Navya to look after, why should I burden someone else with my responsibilities? I can't pull Yuga into this. Moreover for Navya's sake I had decided not to marry. I insisted on my decision for so long, but after meeting Yuga, I don't know how and when....I don't know much about her, yet why do I feel a connection everytime we meet?...No! I shouldn't have thought about falling in love", Nirav tried to erase his thoughts. His mind was in a chaos in that moment. 


But Yuga's smiling face kept flashing in front of his eyes. Her brown eyes, her polite demeanour, her voice, her meeting him coincidentally...so many times...everything kept intruding his mind. 

He started the car and his phone rang. 

"Yuga", it flashed.

He quickly picked up. "Hi, good morning!", he said, in an exhilarated tone, forgetting about all the previous chaos.

"Good ....good morning, Nirav. This...is... Yuga", Yuga was stuttering as she spoke.

"Yes, I know. I've saved your number", Nirav adhered to his excited tone.

"Can we meet Nirav?", Yuga asked, in one breath.

Nirav switched off the car's ignition and leaned back on his seat with phone in his hand.

  And 2024 ends..... Moira : Bound to happen! Chapter - 1.

She was sitting on the bench under the huge tree. Its extensive branches covered few more benches around. The park was a hangout place for teenagers. It was a playground for children and a perfect site for the exercise enthusiasts. People jogged, wearing headphones, determined to shed those extra kilos and be fitter, sticking to their new year resolutions, was a familiar sight here.  Yuga wasn't feeling the vibe today. She had left home as usual, early in the morning, in her tracks and tee to run a few miles, but after three rounds she just sat down on the bench. She saw an old lady taking rounds, walking slowly, but with vigour. The tree was shedding it's aged golden leaves. One such tanned foliole fell beside Yuga on the bench. She picked it up and let it descend on the ground. She switched off the songs playing on her phone. With air pods in her ears, she sat inert on the bench.  "You've to score good grades at school!" "You've to do your Olympiads!" "You need to have a co-curricular activity or some sports activity!" "You should be able to dance or sing or play a musical instrument!" Oh my my! So much pressure on these little one's learning to adapt and traverse the lanes and by lanes of this complicated world. "But its a rat race! He/she needs to figure it out sooner. Studies, career, universities, the stress builds up as they advance into their grades (classes), isn't it?" Yes, true. It's a tough task for the coming generations. Population is ever increasing. Even though the colleges and courses are increasing in numbers but we have no say on the quality of education they impart. Also the leading universities and colleges are always the first priority, obviously. So the newbies are looked down upon. Also the reservations hinder the paths of many. Well, so what score is a good enough score...
