Moira : Bound to happen! Chapter 5.
"Kisiki nazar na lage mere bacche ko!", Yuga's mom said as she circled her palms around Yuga's face and cracked her fingers on her temples.
"Did you apply the ointment?", mom inquired.
"Yes mom. I'm fine, trust me", Yuga gave her a persuasive smile.
Yuga looked beautiful in a blue flowy dress that she wore. She opted for this comfortable outfit to avoid her scalped knees from further afflict. Yuga held her mom's hand tightly and kissed the back of her palm.
They both got seated in the car and Yuga drove off.
"Baccha! Your makeup skills are amazing. Perfectly hiding your swollen eyes", mom said as she scanned her face from the front seat abreast Yuga.
Yuga glanced at her mom and then into the rear mirror. She adjusted the mirror, ignoring her mom's comment. Mom too, giving some space, didn't investigate further. Yuga switched on the indicator to take the right turn to the 'Brewed Awakening café'. This was the hangout place of Yuga, Sameer and all their school friends, since ages. It was more like their regular 'adda' where these friends met for birthdays during school-college days or to celebrate someone's first job or to pacify someone after the break up or just hangout when bored. The owner and staff here were on friendly terms with this gang too. They knew their orders by heart, even individual person's likes and dislikes.
Sameer was already seated at their regular table, almost reserved for the gang, unofficially.
"Hello aunty! Hi Yoda! So how was the morning run? Suna hai you had fun!". Sameer said in his usual mischievous tone.
Yuga gave a blank stare to Sameer. Yuga's mom signalled Sameer to stop teasing her. They all got seated. The waiter came in and asked, "Lazy Latte for bhaiyya, Moira Mocha for didi and aunty aap ki kya order hai?".
"Moira Mocha? Yeh kya hai?", mom asked.
"Aunty, Moira means destiny in Greek. It's their signature coffee and Yuga's favourite", Sameer explained.
"It's nearly lunch time now, so lets make it a brunch and order few more snacks", Sameer suggested.
The order was placed and the trio devoured the food. Sameer kept on cracking jokes, making aunty and Yuga laugh.
Sameer always helped Yuga to divert her sorrow. Yuga was grateful for it. But today, even though she was smiling, yet, deep inside she was debating with herself, whether to tell them about Nirav or no. She had covered her superficial grief with makeup but the inner emotions were difficult to conceal. She also wanted to know more about Nirav. Her thoughts were still muddled and today's incident was still mystic for her.
Moira Mocha was her favourite drink to parch her thirst but what about the aridity of her life? What was 'her' Moira after all?
They finished their brunch and mom said, "We should meet again when uncle is in town. This is refreshing!".
Sameer nodded in agreement and Yuga gave a thumbs-up too. As they were stepping out of the café, once again a sunlit object blinded Yuga's vision. She scampered towards the object and it was the same watch again, and the same face again.
It was Nirav. He was leaving the restaurant across the road with people dressed in suits. Nirav shook hands with them and his watch kept shining and reflecting light. Nirav was dressed in a navy blue suit too. His hair combed into a quiff style.
Yuga stood on the pedestrian trail on this side of the road gaping at the visual. Her eyes once again couldn't believe what they were witnessing.
