Moira : Bound to happen! Chapter 8.
It had been four days now, but Yuga's mom had not discussed her thoughts about Nirav. Not even had brought in the topic. But her words had affected Yuga's thoughts. She felt as if her mom was supporting her behaviour which she herself thought was teenager-like. Yuga had seen Nirav's number on the visiting card. Being a Chartered Accountant (CA), Yuga was good with numbers, so she had memorised it then and there. Her mind was grateful for her whizzy brain, and it had proposed a hundred times to dial the number. But her heart was in a fix.
These four days, their house was facing a quietude which was not a habitual situation for them. And the ladies were observing the "Pehle aap, pehle aap" demeanour to talk about it or even start the topic.
This reposed state was broken by the doorbell. It was Yuga's dad. He was back from his business tour. Whenever he came back from such tours, Yuga used to block him in the living room, until he opens his bag. Dad then, had to take out the gifts he had brought for Yuga and only then could enter the house. This was a ritual since Yuga was a kid. But today, Yuga opened the door and smilingly asked, "How was your tour dad?".
"Good!", dad answered.
Yuga pulled his trolley bag to his bedroom and put it in the corner. Dad fathomed that something was wrong. She brought a glass of water for dad. Dad took the glass and rested on the coach. Her mom came in with three mugs of hot coffee.
Dad drank the water and while keeping the glass down, quietly gestured mom asking what was going on. Mom shrugged and pursed her lips.
"Kuch to gadbad hai Daya", Dad broke the ice with a joke.
Yuga looked at her dad and then to her mom. She gestured her mom to tell dad about the incident. Yuga took her mug and went to her room. Mom told dad everything that had happened. She said she didn't want to disturb him during his tour, hence she hadn't called him for the same.
"Does he really look like Yash", dad confirmed. Mom nodded in a yes. "My baccha must've been really disturbed", dad sighed. "That explains why she didn't ask me to open my bag".
"I can't see Yuga like this. I know she has made peace with her grief, but until when? She can't stay single for life. We won't be there with her always. She is young, she needs her own family, her companion. She has declined all the proposals that were suggested by our well-wishers. I think it's high time she moves on. Nirav looks so much like Yash so I thought it's a signal from God, maybe.....", mom tried to justify her thoughts.
"I will talk to her. Let's see", dad replied, as mom leaned on his shoulder.
Later, dad freshened up. Then he quietly entered Yuga's room with the bottle of perfume he had brought. Yuga was sitting on her recliner with ear pods, listening to songs while holding a book in her hand.
Dad sprayed the perfume in the air to catch Yuga's attention. Yuga sniffed the fresh smell and turned to look. She paused the song and removed the pods. Dad smiled and looking at the book in her hand said, "Ulta book padhne ka naya style hai?".
Yuga glanced at the book and with a smile kept it away. She got up and hugged her dad.
"Did you like the fragrance?", dad asked.
Yuga inhaling the scent again, said, "It's warm, just like your hug".
"Baccha, life is not always warm and welcoming. You should know it better. Even though I have seen more seasons than you have, the experiences that came your way were grimmer. But the brave daughter that I have raised, I am sure won't get depressed by small blows after gathering herself ably, from humongous ones", dad said. "You are smart enough to decide. It's your life after all and your mom and me have always supported your choices. It's your call baccha, just that, analyse before jumping into something", he added.
"Chalo, teach me, ulta book kaise padhte hai", dad said with a smirk.
Yuga laughed and dad patted her head gently.
Beautiful scene! You are going great, Maitrin!
