No one notices when you do it, but everyone notices when you dont....Yeah! Its the everyday household chores! The homemaker does it day in and day out even if shes sick and tired of the mundane job. A man's day 'Off' is actually a day 'Off'....but a woman's day off is, her catching up time, to do these unfinished chores. The overflowing laundry basket, the toys saying 'Eureka' as they fall off the toy-box, the mugs, cups, dishes, spoons, waiting, drenched in liquid soap, to be cleaned. Today my friend Anuya introduced me to this new word - 'Oniochalasia' - meaning - shopping as a mechanism to relieve stress or achieve relaxation - And the result is this post! Who doesnt love shopping, and especially if you are a woman! Women prefer shopping cause its cheaper than a therapy  😜😜😜😜 - Thats an excuse! We love to shop anywhere, anytime. If we are depressed, the more the urge to shop. I guess instead of eating in depression, its better to shop. Shopping definitely boasts our feel-good hormones. Serotonin levels rise up once we hit the shopping mall! Eating would make us gain weight but shopping - you walk, you stand for hours, you forget that you are hungry. Ah! now thats a 2-in-1 solution - antidepressant and weight loss regime. We dont always shop only when depressed. We also shop if we are happy - when its an ADD TO CART kinda day! Acting is a skill. Actors come and go, the best ones stay in the race. Wearing makeup day in and day out on your face, rehearsing your lines, getting connected with your role. Ah! that isnt as easy as it sounds. Lifes a stage, so that makes us all 'Actors' too! We also have to wear make up sometimes - of happiness, smile, cheer, surprise....even if we are broken from inside. We have to rehearse for perfection, to minimise mistakes, to achieve success. We have to get connected totally with our roles - of being - mother, father, brother, sister etc.... Ah! now that isnt as easy as it sounds, either! I think we take birth on this planet and God just says - Lights -Camera -Action. The rest is left to us. There is rough guideline provided by the society to each one of us about our role. The Sun is the source of energy for us. It starts our day and continues to light it up, through the night, via Moon. The symbol of sacrifice, it is, burns each day just to create a bright environment for us! Its rays spread all over, dont differentiate between rich and poor, fair and dark, or anything else...... Just makes sure all of us shine and get energised. The Sun always directs our gaze away from itself. It makes us see the life illuminated by it. Sunshine is the best medicine! We should take inspiration from this Morning star. We can be the sunshine to someone, others. To light up the environment we also need to burn, not literally though!...... The figure of speech, phrase - 'Jack of all trades, Master of none' is used to say that a person knows many skills but isnt an expert in any one. I think this was relevant in the past. But nowadays even if you aint a master of anything is ok, you have to be Jack of all! Gaining expertise in something is an option, but knowing it all is a must. The knowlegde shouldnt be superficial though. Today the kids have to be passionately curious, they may have no special talent! The parents too want their kids to push themselves. Kids must swim, dance, sing, study, play a sport....exhaustive hmm!! We can divide the Jacks as Generalists and the Masters as Specialists. Now, the specialists have to be on a narrow path, with niche focus on a special talent, and they get locked into it. Generalists on the other hand, will rather have it flexible - moving up, down, left, right, as and when required. Masters - the specialists, have to put in concentrated efforts behind one thing to keep g...

I have a big circle of friends. Friends from every walk of life - lawyer, doctor, C.A, architect, engineer, teacher, homemaker, designer, MBA, artist, singer, dancer & the list goes on..... For a woman - she has to manage many roles - And I am not being sexist or feminist here - No! But from morning till the day ends - she is not just the above mentioned somebody, but, she is a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a cleaner, a sweeper, a helper, a counsellor, a cook, friend, philosopher, guide, so on & so forth.... Managing all these roles is a HUGE task! If she fails being one, she starts feeling guilty. If she excels in one & is really bad at other - the more the anxiety - All this leads to Depression. Yah! Melancholy, Misery, Woe, Dejection, Downheartedness, Pessimism, Moodiness...you can call it by any name. But all this affects her terribly. She starts feeling awful, execrable about herself, her weaknesses. It is easier to say 'my tooth is aching', ...

This is for my friend Ranjit Kaur (it was her suggestion to draw a butterfly in Madhubani Art, so i did! and also ended up with this article...) & all the other women who I know, are willing to take risks & soar heights!
