Enchanting God - Shiva!

Image
The Trichakshu, The divine, The Serene! Lord Shiva is blue and dark, He is a male -The Shiva and a female - The Shakti. He is the God who loves music - carries  'Dumaru' in His hand. The chants of "bum bum bhole" - as the hysteria reaches a crescendo, the Shiv Bhakts are in a state of trance when they pray to Him. Shiva also loves the art form of 'dance'. His 'Tandava Nritya' , as it is known, is legend in its own way. He is thus called "Nataraja". Yes, He is the God of anger too! His Rudravtaar with His third eye open - to destroy the evil forces of nature, is a known Saga. Yet, He is mentioned as "Bhola Shankar", who believes in his devotees and their honest prayers. No doubt a demon like 'Ravana' sang hymns in praise of Shiva and worshiped Him so ardently that this 'Mahadev' blessed him with power and wealth. Shiva has been a hermit who leaves on Kailash Parbat. He is ascetic who is detached from wordly...

Anger Management!

Image
"Count from one to ten, slowly, Jui", my mom used to tell me when I was small. "This will give you time to breathe, relax, think and decide whether to be angry or contemplate about the reason behind your anger", she used to say. "If you aint still pacified, count more", was her idea of anger managment! We always say he has a short temper, she has a real bad temper. Temper is the tendency to become angry very quickly. This disposition may be inherited or acquired. We may have seen people close to us getting angry and dominating, and we may have got influenced by this in our early childhood. Or due to situations we face or frustrations we have during our growing up phase, we tend to become ill-tempered. Or in adulthood, as we age, we loose our patience and get offended easily and become more wrathful! We tend to defend our 'short tempered' charateristic by saying "I aint short tempered, just that I react quickly to bullshit" - ...

Gurus of my Life!

Image
Academician, confucius, teacher, instructor, mentor, trainer, tutor, philosopher, guide, moralist, preceptor. A Guru is all of these! The First Guru of my life is my Mother. She taught me to express, speak, walk, eat, play, study, think and most importantly to "be Me".Thankyou Aai for your interminable efforts you put in me. Along with her my Father, my two Grandfathers ( Paternal-maternal), my two Grandmothers, who guided me all along. They taught me the difference between right and wrong, good and bad. My Father who has a command in Economics, was my Guru who taught me economics lessons, without him I would have flunked the subject. Thankyou Baba for- giving me wings to fly, to choose what I wanted to and to always encourage me! My younger sister, taught me alot, like, being sincere. I cant forget the Biology lessons that she gave me ( I was really bad at Bio in school!). All the other elders of my family too have been my Gurus in one way or the other. My teahers at my...

FOMOs and JOMOs of Social Media!

FOMO, Fear Of Missing Out - The Urban Dictionary describes it as "State of mental or emotional strain caused by the fear of missing out, a compulsive concern that one might miss an opportunity or satisfying event". Comparison- You have a Whtsapp account, Facebook account, Twitter, Instagram etc..etc.. Marriage, the union of two souls!

I just attended a wedding ceremony. The groom and bride all decked up. The 'baratis' dancing. The groom riding the horse, the bride in her doli. Everything was colourful, fun and bright.  On the way back there was alot going on in my mind. I was thinking about this whole affair - Marriage. Is it all about two perfect individuals coming together, tying the nuptial knot, to become a perfect couple? ..........Actually, No!...... Marriage is all about imperfect couple learning to enjoy each others differences. On THE DAY we are all happy, excited and its all goody goody feeling.......but the real meaning of coming together, staying together is realised later. You have to adjust with your spouse, his/her habits, mood swings, likes-dislikes, behaviour and the list is exhaustive! The roots of marriage are deep, the covenant has to be solid, love in abundance, life- with its ups and downs. The partners must learn to love, believe in each other even on those days when they str...

Domesticated me?

No one notices when you do it, but everyone notices when you dont....Yeah! Its the everyday household chores! The homemaker does it day in and day out even if shes sick and tired of the mundane job. A man's day 'Off' is actually a day 'Off'....but a woman's day off is, her catching up time, to do these unfinished chores. The overflowing laundry basket, the toys saying 'Eureka' as they fall off the toy-box, the mugs, cups, dishes, spoons, waiting, drenched in liquid soap, to be cleaned. The books scattered on the shelf, the layers of dust, very very adamant on settling down, and not willing to go. A working woman on the other hand, has some 'me' time, atleast in her office, where she can sip a cup of coffee during her break. She can overlook the mess thats there, away, at her home. No doubt she has to finish her office work and go back to it. Clear her backlog, piled up work, once shes back home. Sometimes I just feel like keeping things as ...

Shopping and me!

Today my friend Anuya introduced me to this new word - 'Oniochalasia' - meaning - shopping as a mechanism to relieve stress or achieve relaxation - And the result is this post! Who doesnt love shopping, and especially if you are a woman! Women prefer shopping cause its cheaper than a therapy  😜😜😜😜 - Thats an excuse! We love to shop anywhere, anytime. If we are depressed, the more the urge to shop. I guess instead of eating in depression, its better to shop. Shopping definitely boasts our feel-good hormones. Serotonin levels rise up once we hit the shopping mall! Eating would make us gain weight but shopping - you walk, you stand for hours, you forget that you are hungry. Ah! now thats a 2-in-1 solution - antidepressant and weight loss regime. We dont always shop only when depressed. We also shop if we are happy - when its an ADD TO CART kinda day! If you want to know a Woman - the easiest way would be to go shopping with her. right? I came across this quote the oth...
