Nostalgia!

Image
I wish there was a time machine and I could time travel to revisit my past! Dont you all think so too sometimes? I miss being a little kid with no stress, worries or care in the world. I would love to revisit my childhood. I wish I could go back in my life - not to change anything but just relive fews things twice. I keep telling my kids - "you should go out and play more. Enjoy your childhood. Dont waste time infront of stupid screens. You have alot of energy, stamina, you have alot of enthusiam so just run, jump and play till you drop".  Ricky Schrodder rightly said - 'I spent my whole childhood wishing I were older and now I'm spending my adulthood wishing I were younger'. Given a chance who wouldnt want to be young again? Now that we are grown-ups, we have to have a certain way to carry ourselves. We need to behave when in public. We have 'n' number of restrictions as adults, which we never had and we never minded, as kids. Wasnt it beauti...

Men and Women!

Image
The other day I got a call from my Mavshi (Aunt). She likes reading my blogs, she said. But the view she shared with me gave me a different perspective to think. She suggested that I should keep aside my 'woman point of view', my 'effeminate thoughts' and write something that both the sexes can appreciate. So heres something I came up with today. Hope you readers like it and relate to it, too! Men are from mars and women from venus! Yes, we all agree. I am taking references from my earlier blogs to see how Mars and Venus are different! On a relxed day, when its decided to go shopping - A Man would prefer to go gadget shopping. He would love to go to a Croma, or some digital store, a Bose or JBL gallary. He would love checking out the new digital stuff around, test the speakers and amplifiers - what sounds best! But a Woman - her happy feet would take her to a Sephora, a Vero Moda, a Caprese store or a Catwalk. She would love to go to a linking road or a fa...

Movie buffs!

Image
I like to watch movies just like anybody else. The genre of movies people watch, varies according to their taste. Comedy, Horror, Science fiction, Romance, Action, Adventure, Crime, Animation, Drama, Documentry, Thriller, Epic, Biographical, Sports, Fantasy, Musicals, Historical, Superhero, Silent, Melodrama, Satire, Parody...and the list of genre is unending. While going through some movie articles I also got to know some new genre like - Noir - stylish Hollywood crime dramas, Slasher - subgenre of horror films involving psychopaths, Experimental - also called avantgarde cinema that rigorously re-evaluates cinematic conventions and explores non-narrative forms. The movie buffs tend to watch movies very seriously. I really fail to understand (and at times envy) how can they memorise the dialogues, the scenes - frame by frame, what comes next, costumes worn by actors etc. They are also curious about what happens behind the scenes, the whole technical and political process of i...

Bringing them up!

Image
My whatsapp friends' group chats recently, are regarding - how our kids behave these days! We have been discussing this alot. Our kids these days have more than everything they need to have. They can have all the cake by themselves, they can have much more candies than their little hands can hold, they have toys overflowing from their cupboards, they have limitless exposure to 'n' number of things which may be beyond their age to understand or sustain to. Having said this - how do we bring them up? how do we guide them? how do we make them understand the worth of everything? These are the major problems every parent faces today. I am not an 'authority enough' to give hundred percent solution to all this. But I would like to share my experiences. My friends and me have kids of somewhat same age. The older ones are in their adolescent phase. They need a guide, a friend to talk to. Discuss their problems. Speak their minds out. While some kids are open eno...

'Maaher' - Mom-Dad's house!

The word 'Maaher' in Marathi is derived from a Prakrit word - 'Mai-har' meaning mother's house. It is always a very emotional and affectionate subject for all married women. Mom-Dads house will always be home for us. Even after being married for several years we always have that soft corner in our hearts for 'our maaher'. Even if our husband's place is now our house, still the longing to visit 'our maaher' is always there. However big or small this place is, you treasure it. You keep revisiting the mermories of your childhood - the courtyard you played in, the garden you loved going to, the stairs you jumped up and down, the terrace you hid in -- keeps flashing infront of your eyes - unknowingly making you teary eyed. When you see an old album - your, then young parents carrying you in their arms or their laps - your eyes lit up and theres a smile on your face! When at your house, you always worry about the day-the daily chores-the menu-...

Home Alone!

Image
Everyone has their own idea of spending time alone. The 'Me time', the 'at leisure' time. Some would love to sit by the window sipping hot coffee from their favourite mug (some would prefer tea, ofcourse); reading a book, some would watch their favourite TV programs or movies, some would want to try their hands on new recipes, some would like to binge on their favourite foods - chocolates, pastries... some would want to shake a leg on a favourite song or latest number, some would want to 'crush some candies' or 'pop some bubbles' on their mobiles. 'The time you enjoy wasting is not really wasted'. Usually a Sunday is the day you are at leisure and if you are lucky enough you could be home alone. No worries for packing tiffins, cooking, getting ready for work, cleaning, running errands - up and down the house..... For the productivity to boost up you surely need some leisure once in a while, to recharge yourself enough. Leisur...

Clocks ticking!

"An inch of time is an inch of gold, but you cant buy that inch of time with an inch of gold" - so goes a Chinese proverb. Yes, time is money they say - which is true ofcourse! Time is a thing that most of us take for granted. When things are all good and everythings in place, we never value this time. We are relaxed and dont care much. But when time changes - we get worried - all worked up and complain 'how we are short of time'. We are all going to die - stop wasting time - I know its too harsh a line, but we have to understand this well, in time - time is precious. The theory of relativity - when we are with our loved ones, time isnt enough. But when we are on a hot burner - we wonder when the time would be up. Holds true in any age and time. Time is no doubt free but at the same time its priceless! Dont waste it. Even if we believe that everything comes to us at the right time - but we need to use our time properly. Make your time count. When we sa...
