The Dreamcatcher!

Image
I was always amazed by this concept of dreamcatcher! A dreamcatcher was originally hung over a cradle for protection of babies. Yes it is now used as a Charm - they say the dreamcatcher catches dreams for you. It filters out the negative vibes and lets the positivity in. That's why we hung it on our windows or balconies. Our bad dreams become hopelessly entangled in the woven web, all through the night until the light of the morning sun burns them away. With this dreamcatcher, we enter into a world that is entirely our own - our good dreams that we own. Yes ofcourse for this you have to believe in your dreams, you have to take that leap of faith, you have to commit yourself to it. Only then, will your dreams become reality. When I look at a dreamcatcher, its intrigue design of web, hoop, threads, feathers - I feel that each one has its story. I perceive the web as our complicated thoughts, and the hoop as our brain/mind. We consciously - subconsciously keep on thinking and weaving ...

Apprehensive us!

Image
Whenever theres a pandemic, theres apprehension, uncertainty, panic, doubt, uneasiness, bad vibes, fear. We all tend to find out more and more about the concerned subject. We dig in the internet, we search for articles, we try to be experts on our own. But how many of us actually ask the doctors whats on our minds? How many of us make sure that what we read, what we believe in, is true? We all want to disburse info first, but do we check the authenticity? Are we spreading rumours? Are we adding up to panic? In such situations, there should be trust. Trust on the process, trust on your doctors, trust on each other to help out. There will be a sense of alarm, an axiety about whats going to happen, no doubt! But keeping calm and thinking clearly is a must. Instead of just being apprehensive, better look forward for the possibilities. We all are creatures of habit, so something new, always makes us anxious and its natural. But acceptance is very important, in order to sail th...

Songs : Endless Resonance!

Image
I heard this song from the movie 'Ijazat', 'Chhotisi kahanise, baarishon ke panise...', after a very long time. I remembered my 'sangeet', a day before my marriage, back in 2004. One of my young cousins had sung this song. She was hardly 6 years I guess. But I was surprised that she knew this old song and sung it with lyrics in place and very much in tune. We all have our favourite songs, we have those special songs which we keep on humming, we have those songs which are always on our playlist. We also have those songs which, when we hear, bring certain memories back. We listen to variety of songs, on various occasions - be it a club to dance to a certain number - be it a karaoke to sing our hearts out - be it just a warm corner in our house, to relax and listen to our favourite song - be it a wedding celebration or a birthday or just a random fun party. Each song has a story to tell. We listen to certain love song when we fall in love - we are happy ...

Fighting the odds!

Image
Sitting at the bedside of my son, in the hospital, watching him fight his pain after a surgery, I am impelled to think - where did he get this strength from? At this young age! How can he bear the throes? Is he really this strong? Is he doing so to make me feel less wearisome? Or is he a Braveheart? Yes, I know, he is fighting the odds! "The greatest pleasure in life is, doing what people say you cannot do" - Walter Bagehot. Fighting against the odds - you need support - firstly, it's your self confidence and secondly, it's the people around you - who you know, are always there, with you. They say that courage doesn't always roar, sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day, whispering - " I will try again tomorrow. Yes I will fight back!" It always seems impossible until its done, right? Despite the odds, through thick and thin, from being a disaster, you work to be a master. The waters may be high, there may be hardships, throu...

Politics - collectible of quotes!

Today everyone is talking Politics. Everyone has sides to take. Their own points of view. Their own justifications. But here is what famous people in the past had to say about politics..... "Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it correctly and applying the wrong remedies" - Groucho Marx. "Politicians and diapers must be changed often, and for the same reason" - Mark Twain. "No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems - of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and two. Whatever is number three is far behind" - Dr. Thomas Sowell. "Politics is almost as exciting as war, and quite as dangerous. In war you can only be killed once, but in politics many times" - Winston Churchill. "In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned tha...

And the year ends!

Image
When you arrive at the end of a year, you tend to reflect on things and incidents that happened to you throughout the year. Then you start analzying the pluses and minuses. You feel - things should have been better, things should have been 'that' instead of 'this'. You regret doing certain things. 'What ifs' start popping in your head - What if I hadnt said that? , What if I hadnt been there? or Had been there? etc..etc... Even though all this goes on in your mind - always remember - that you have grown as a person this year. You have had your share of ups and downs - you have climbed mountains of tedious tasks and descended valleys of work loads. You have achieved your set of goals. Those moments werent invain. They all added up to your skillsets, added up to you knowing what not to do again, added up to you being a better person. What's more important is that you are 'breathing', you are 'living' and you are fit and fine. Be ...
