Once upon a heartbeat! - (10)
New job :
"Ummm...well, Jia I just thought that you know....you always ask me about the books I read. Though you never like to read it yourself. You keep pestering me to tell you stories. You feel happy to see readers engrossed in books. And you love coffee. So I thought maybe you would...you know...open a book cafè", Alora spoke just anything that came to her mind, expecting Jia to believe her slapdash words.
And it worked. "Awww! You are such a sweetheart Alora", Jia hugged her. "You really can read my mind", she added.
Alora felt guilty about the whole thing but managed to escape the situation. "Should I tell Jia about my dream/time-travel/book travel whatever it is? She's my best buddy, she will surely understand", Alora pondered glancing at Jia's happy face.
"Jia let's eat something. I'm hungry ", Alora said, wanting to sit down and talk.
They both went to a cafè nearby. They settled down and ordered.
"Jia lately I've been having this dream...well I don't know what it is...but the book I'm reading...how do I put this in words....", Alora fumbled.
"Hey what dream Alora? I'm listening please tell....is it a nightmare? Don't worry. I will get you a dream catcher. It will drive away all bad vibes", Jia said holding Alora's hand.
"You are a sweetheart Jia. But the thing is it isn't a nightmare....that day at the school.....", Alora narrated the whole story to Jia.
Jia was looking at her with mouth wide open. "Armaan Mehta....yes, you had told me about the book 'Heartbeat'. And more than the lead character, I remember you had described him better", Jia winked at Alora.
"How does he look? Are you so much in love with a character that you started dreaming about it?", Jia teased.
Listening to Jia's words, Alora suddenly thought, "Yes that's the answer. It's just a dream and that's the reason as Jia said", Alora pacified herself.
"But Jia it feels so vivid. It feels real....and regarding the Book cafè, well I know it because of this dream....", Alora tried to redeem her guilt, while analysing more about the dream.
As Alora was speaking, the menu card fell down from the table. She picked it up and was about to keep it back, but without a warning, she found herself in front of the building complex. The same one which had the office of 'Innovations and Synergy Corp', her new job.
Alora was standing at the entrance, dressed in a blue salwar-kameez, hair let loose, mauve lipstick, winged eyeliner, holding a hand bag, file and appointment letter. She looked at the appointment letter. She lifted her head up to look at the extensive building and exhaled. She was feeling as though caught in a trap.
